ABOUT THE JOURNAL OF FREE THOUGHT

We live in an era in which we are not allowed to write, or even think, about issues in any way but the way that is deemed correct. This is nothing new. Every era throughout history has had its prominent ideology. Ancient Greece, Rome, and China had their primary ideologies that everyone was required to follow. The Holy Roman Empire had its religious ideology that could not be opposed without severe punishment, often death. More recently we have had the Communist ideologies that demanded absolute allegiance, and the Nazi ideology that caused so much destruction. At present we have the radical Muslim ideology that has become a world-wide menacing force.

In every era it has been hard, if not impossible, for independent thinkers to express their opinions. However, The Journal of Free Thought has been founded to provide independent thinkers with a forum to do just that. We believe that an objective search for the truth is important, not only for the health of individuals but also for the health of any culture. When leaders, political groups or religious denominations allow only one way of looking at life or on some aspect of life, they oppress the quality of life for all people and delimit the ability of scientists, social scientists, and writers of all kinds to do their jobs--that is, engage in objective studies and descriptions of life.

The Journal of Free Thought is open to psychoanalytic, psychological and philosophical studies of all kinds. There is no censorship here and never will be.
